These are the current Pastors and Elders that God has called to shepherd the congregation at Dry Creek Bible Church.

Jim Carlson

SENIOR PASTOR

Originally from Sandpoint, Idaho, Jim came to Montana in 1978. He graduated as a pastoral student from Montana Institute of the Bible in 1981 and has since earned degrees in New Testament Greek and historical theology at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. In the years prior to serving Dry Creek Bible Church, Jim was pastor of Lone Rock Bible Church in Montana’s Bitterroot Valley, executive director of the Rocky Mountain Bible Mission, and pastor of Community Bible Church of Fort Benton, Montana, and the Winifred, Montana Community Bible Church. From 1990 to 2018 Jim taught various courses as a modular instructor at Montana Wilderness School of the Bible near Augusta, and has served in teaching and administration roles at Montana Bible College in Bozeman. Jim and his wife, Mary, have four grown sons and sixteen (to date!) grandchildren.

Arlen Tofslie

ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Arlen Tofslie was born and raised in Montana, graduating from Manhattan High School. After 4 years in the Navy, he returned to Montana earning his journeyman license in small engine mechanics. He became a new creation in Christ while listening to Billy Graham on television in 1974. His wife, Vickie, came to Christ soon after. Since graduating from Montana Institute of the Bible, Arlen has served in the pastoral ministry in Montana and Idaho in five different churches over 35 years. Following an extended sabbatical after a quadruple by-pass heart surgery, Arlen is currently serving as a part-time associate pastor at the Dry Creek Bible Church.

Jeremy Jones

ASSOCIATE PASTOR 

Jeremy grew up in Tigard, OR and graduated from Tigard High School in 2003. After high school he attended the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD where he majored in systems engineering. Upon graduation, Jeremy commissioned in the US Navy as an Ensign and served just shy of 5 years in the Naval Nuclear Submarine Community being stationed up and down the east and west coasts.

Jeremy and Tobie met during the summer of 2006 at a Naval Academy function, and were married in July of 2010. After the Navy, Jeremy began his MDiv at Western Theological Seminary. When Tobie graduated from dental school, she was commissioned as a LT in the US Navy and Jeremy and Tobie were stationed at the Lemoore Naval Air Station in the central valley of California where they lived for 4 years. After California, they moved to Tigard, Oregon where Jeremy began his ThM at Western Theological seminary, and Tobie took a position at OHSU School of Dentistry as an associate professor and completed a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. In November of 2021, Jeremy and Tobie moved to Bozeman and have been loving Montana, and Dry Creek Bible Church, ever since.

Bill Skinner

ELDER 

Bill was born in Bozeman, Montana and raised on a ranch near Dry Creek Church. He graduated high school locally and attended Montana State University and University of Illinois. While at Illinois, Bill received a Masters degree and gained his life companion, Shiela. After returning to Montana in 1972, Bill worked in construction for a couple years and then began 42 years as a farmer (raising mainly seed potatoes). Bill accepcted Christ at age six. With the exception of years spent at school, he has been a member at Dry Creek Bible Church for some 60 years. Bill has enjoyed learning from an unbroken string of Bible-teaching pastors and is happy to be a part of a thriving church.

Larry Chvilicek

ELDER 

The son of dryland grain farmers, Larry was born and raised in Hingham, Montana, where he lived and worked until after marrying Mary in 1979. Larry and Mary moved their family to the Gallatin Valley in 1987, living in Bozeman until 1999, when they moved to Manhattan, Montana. Larry is a general contractor in residential construction. He's known and trusted in Jesus since June 3, 1973, and has been present at Dry Creek since the fall of 1999. Larry became an elder in 2008. Larry loves the opportunity and privilege to lead and shepherd the people of the Dry Creek community.

Luke Mauritsen

ELDER 

Luke, a 5th generation Montanan, was born in Eureka, MT.  He studied physics and mechanical engineering at Pacific Lutheran University and Montana State University.  He works in the quantum computing industry as an entrepreneur and advisor. Luke met June while he was racing bicycles in Colorado, and they became husband and wife in June’s hometown of Ashland, Oregon in September of 1998.  They have three amazing children, Emma, Will, and Lucy.  Luke and June love being a part of what God is doing at Dry Creek Bible Church and throughout the world and enjoy serving in whatever capacity God leads.

Derek Weir

ELDER 

Derek was originally from a small farming community in western Illinois, and has been following Jesus since March 7, 1976. He moved to Bozeman to attend college in 1986, and that is where he met his wife, Tonya. After graduating MSU, he and Tonya were married in 1992, and now have two children, Evan and Kendra, both of whom are still in Montana. Derek enjoys all aspects of outdoor activities, and after a 30yr career at Darigold in Bozeman, is now employed at Circle S Seeds in Three Forks. Derek is currently leading a Life Group, and he and Tonya are faithfully looking forward to what God has in store for the future of Dry Creek Church.

Josh Mckenzie

ELDER 

Josh McKenzie was raised in Bozeman and met his wife Brita at Bozeman High. After graduating from Montana State University in Construction Engineering and spending 11 years in highway construction, Josh and Brita were led into full time missions. After spending three years training in souther Texas, northern Mexico and Costa Rica, Josh and Brita spent the next 5 years in Peru equipping rural pastors who have little access to theological training. The McKenzies returned to Bozeman in 2021 and are excited to be investing in the local church at Dry Creek! Josh and Brita have four children; Dan, Clara, Paul and Evelyn. 

Edwin Tofslie

ELDER 

Edwin Tofslie was born in Lewistown, Montana and met his wife Kelly at the University of Idaho. After graduating college with a BFA in Graphic & Interface Design, Edwin has spent the last 20 years working and leading in the fields of web, graphic & interactive product design. Edwin is currently the CDO at Land id™. After returning to Belgrade, Montana in 2016, the Tofslie’s have been joyfully attending Dry Creek Bible Church, leading a life group, and look forward to continue investing in the people and gospel focused mission of DCBC. Edwin and Kelly have two children; Lacy & Ashley Tofslie.

Greg Braaksma

ELDER

Greg was born in Bozeman and grew up on the family farm west of Amsterdam, Montana. Greg was brought up in church but did not personally accept Jesus until 17 at a youth convention in Colorado. He began buying the farm in 1999 and works on the daily operation of the farm and feedlot with his cousin, uncle and dad. Greg met his wife Erika in June of 2000 and they were married the following May. They have three children: Clara, Hannah, and Holter. Greg enjoys ministering in the county jail with Bozeman Prison Ministries, leading a life group, and participating in the life of the church in many ways.
